Does Deputy Shell work without Codex?
Yes. Codex integration is optional. Terminal sessions, project workspaces and the bundled development runtime can be used without signing in to OpenAI.
Does Deputy Shell include an OpenAI subscription?
No. Deputy Shell does not provide OpenAI accounts, credits, subscriptions or hosted AI services. Codex users must use their own eligible OpenAI account or supported API key.
Where are my projects stored?
Deputy Shell stores projects and application data locally in Android application storage. Files exported to another location remain at the destination selected by the user.
Does Deputy Shell upload my workspace?
Deputy Shell does not automatically upload an entire workspace to the Deputy Shell developer.
Codex, Git, curl, package managers, scripts and other network-capable tools may transmit data when instructed or when required for their operation.
Is telemetry required?
No. Crash reporting and limited usage statistics are disabled by default and can be controlled separately.
Where are the licences and source code?
Licence notices are available offline in Settings → Open-source licences.
Corresponding source code for covered GPL components is available from the Deputy Shell open-source page without charge or login.
