Codex on Android

Deputy Shell bundles OpenAI's Codex CLI, built to run on Android, as part of its development runtime. Codex runs as an ordinary command inside a normal terminal session — there's no separate "Codex session" type with different isolation from any other session.

Bundled, but optional to use

The Codex module downloads as part of Deputy Shell's mandatory first-run setup along with the rest of the runtime — you can't skip downloading it. Actually signing in and using Codex, however, is entirely optional: the terminal, projects, and bundled development tools all work without it.

Account requirements

Using Codex requires your own eligible OpenAI account. Deputy Shell does not provide, sell, or resell OpenAI accounts, credits, or subscriptions — availability, usage limits, and any charges are set by OpenAI and depend entirely on your own account and plan, and can change independently of Deputy Shell.

Network requirements

Codex needs live network access to OpenAI's servers for sign-in and for everything beyond basic version/help commands. When you use Codex, your prompts and any project or file content you include in a request may be sent to OpenAI — Deputy Shell does not intercept or separately store that traffic beyond keeping your local sign-in token.
